“You will not find sadder stories than the love of Romeo and Juliet.” Probably the first association with classical literature is Shakespeare’s plays. The unhappy love of two teenagers who cannot reconcile due to the enmity of their families, and as a result die. It seemed that an unknown person might open up here. However, the latest edition presents this famous tragedy in a new light. First of all, thanks to the translation of Yuri Andrukhovych – and this is not the “slick” Shakespeare, to which we are accustomed in the school curriculum. Here Romeo is sharp-tongued, and his friends love obscene jokes. Some actors, such as servants, speak only prose, which betrays uneducated people. In addition, certain things and verbal jokes modernize the translation – and from that the work only becomes richer and sounds fuller.
He illustrated the book – and this alone can be a reason to have a publication in your library.
